Aiken is one of the loveliest cities in the southeast. It is recognized for its fine golf courses and its love of horses. Aiken is rich in history and tradition with annual sporting events such as the Aiken Triple Crown,and Aiken Fox Hunt. A great place to retire and enjoy the mild climate of South Carolina.
Aiken is centrally located, two and one-half hours from Atlanta, Ga. only 45 minutes from the Masters. Three hours from the resort beaches of the south and three and one-half hours from the beautiful mountains.
This charming and quaint city has many historic settings and it is not unusual to see a horse and carriage trotting along the dirt streets off South Boundary near the training tracks and various stables. Aiken has polo games, craft shows, a wonderful art center, a great campus of the University of South Carolina Extension, and a state-of-the-art medical center.
Aiken, South Carolina has lovely estate homes dating back to the 1800s and many charming restaurants weaving in and around downtown Aiken from casual to elegant and from Italian dining to fine cuisine. We were voted an All-American City in 1997 and are proud of it.
